These diapers are just so precious. I suggest using WHITE for the material color if you have it! Or Pastel. Or the colors on these diapers are good too just keep it simple. Diaper Pattern Found Here The examples shown above are made of flannel.
Flannel Kimonos are also a good easy sewing option for dressing these sweet babies. picture tutorial instructions for Kimonos found here
1/2 of a yard will yield 3 x-small kimonos and 3 small diapers. The x-small kimonos use (2) 7" lengths of 3/16" ribbon each.
the small diapers use 1 #1 safety pin
the large diapers use 1 #2 safety pin

Crochet and Knit Sleeper Sacks
Sleeper sacks are wonderful for tiny tiny babies. I found wonderful patterns for both Crochet and Knit
Crochet
Knit
It's wonderful to have Hats to match
Hat sizing:
Think of the size of a Plum, Orange, And Grapefruit
when trying to match a hat size to a gown. Hats need to be stretchy but not holey.
Remember solid pastels are best. White, Blue, Pink, Cream.

Stake R.S. Humanitarian Aid Project
Each year our Stake R.S. presidency puts together an AMAZING Christmas in September in conjunction with the General R.S. broadcast. Did you realize that each year there is a humanitarian aid project too! Last year it was the file folder games. This year we will be participating in a humanitarian aid project that is very close to my heart. We are going to be making blankets, hats, and bereavement gowns for infants who pass away before or after birth.
As Always we recognize that each individual sister has different circumstances of being able to contribute. We ask that you contribute in what ever way you can.
This year the Stake R.S. is inviting Graduating Laurels to participate with us. How Exciting! What a wonderful way to let our Laurels know the joys of sisterhood and serving others that await them in
Relief Society!
Blankets, Gowns, and Hats can be sewn, crocheted, knitted, or store bought. We have so many talented women in our stake. I have no doubt the things you will come up with will be simply beautiful.
We have some wonderful resources to help us in our project. The Angel Babies Organization has a beautiful pattern for sewing bereavement gowns. Go HERE and click on the Patterns Tab for instructions on how to sew these gowns.
This is a pattern for a small crochet blanket (it can be made bigger easily if you would like to make a bigger blanket.)
Of course you can make lots of different blankets. When choosing colors or patterns remember parents will be holding their babies in these blankets and then taking these blankets home as a keepsake.
Here are some good dimensions if you're looking for a guideline for sizing:
Size A: 22" X 22"
Size B: 24" X 26"
Size C: 28" X 30
(To make the above crochet blanket you will need 3 skeins of worsted weight yarn for a SIZE B blanket. To adjust the pattern for a size B all you need do is chain until you reach 24" and then continue following the directions of the pattern.)
Here is another great Idea for a blanket
This same blog also has a crochet hat pattern. Go HERE for the Hat Pattern.
You can also use a Knifty Knitter loom to make baby and premie hats. Instructions are found HERE
The blue (small) loom makes baby hats. You can get good results with 2 strands of baby yarn. When using the KNIFTY KNITTER baby yarn or sport yarn is best as this will help make the hat stretchy and not stiff. Worsted weight yarn is too tight on the Knifty Knitter for our purposes. Another good
combination you can try is blending a sports weight (3 ply) with baby
yarn.
Headbands for girls are also a great idea.
One more hat pattern. You may have your own. That's great too!
For Crochet Burial Gowns This site has a beautiful gown pattern.
I used a ball of Bernat Baby Sport Yarn bought at Walmart and was able to make 6 gowns with hats to match. Each gown takes less than 3oz of Sport weight yarn..
This site also has a SEWN Gown
Here is a sweet knitted Bunting Pattern
You may have noticed most everything is in pastels or white. Some of these sweet babies don't ever turn the pink we think of when we think of babies. The soft neutral colors go best with the color of their skin. The Gowns all have a long opening/closure. Often these babies have very very delicate skin and dressing them is more challenging so these gowns are made to be simple to slip on.

Gardening
Sisters we will be having a Relief Society Mid Week Meeting on
Gardening.
April 20th
Have you thought about your Garden yet?
Have you bought your seeds?
What do you want to grow this year?
Are you interested in canning your produce?
Now is the time to start Planning your garden.
YOU CAN USE SEEDS FROM LAST YEAR...if you kept them in a cool dry place.
(easiest way to tell if they are still good. Put a few seeds in a zip lock back with a wet paper towel. Watch for a few days. If they sprout your seeds are still good!)
Did you know?
When you start seeds indoors
- you need a sterile medium to grow in (if you're using one from last year make sure you sterilize it with a bleach solution of 10% bleach and 90% water.)
- Use WARM water to water your seedlings (cold water can retard growth!)
- Make sure to HARDEN OFF plants Before planting them into your garden
The church's PROVIDENT LIVING Website has many ideas for gardening and links to other sites. Start reading up now. Time to start planting those seeds indoors.

Humanitarian Aid Kit Assembly
Saturday, February 27th @ 9am
In a statement published on the Church’s official Web site, Church President Thomas S. Monson and counselors Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uchtdorf said they are “keenly aware that many in America are dealing with economic challenges brought on by the recent recession.” Many Church members have made substantial contributions to Church Humanitarian Services, but more is needed.
We recognize that each sister has different circumstances of being able to contribute. We are assembling Humanitarian Aid Kits to go to the people of Haiti. Feel free to contribute items to these kits according to your circumstances.
Each Kit contains
2 unbreakable combs (no sharp handles)
4 toothbrushes (packaged)
1 tube of toothpaste (6-8 oz., no pumps)
2 bars of soap (approximately 4 to 5 oz.)
2 hand towels (new towels, approximately 15" by 25". Please do not use dish towels or washcloths. To sew towels, serge or zigzag the edges of terry cloth to make a 15" by 25" towel.)
Place items in a heavy-duty, one-gallon sealable bag. Remove all air before sealing. Place hygiene kits in a cardboard packing box, and take or ship them to the Latter-day Saint Humanitarian Center, or a bishops' storehouse.
We will be assembling kits the morning of the 27th and having a light breakfast snack!
